The stone yew Podocarpus macrophyllus or large-leaved stone yew, Buddhist yew or temple tree have been shaped into giant bonsai in Japanese temples for centuries. Due to the slow growth, the good cut tolerance and the evergreen needles, the stone slice is ideally suited for bonsai design. Stone grinds can grow up to 20 meters, they love nutritious and moist soils. The best place for the summer months is a location in a slightly shady location outdoors, the bonsai thanks you for this with sufficient fertilization with a strong shoot. In winter, the very undemanding and easy-care bonsai can stand in a bright and sunny spot in the room.

  • We always source the yew seeds fresh from China.

    Before sowing, let the seeds soak in warm water for about 24 hours and, if they are still present, remove the leathery remains. Then put the seeds 2 cm deep into the moist growing medium and keep them evenly moist until germination. The fastest shoot occurs at 20-25 ° C. The seedlings can be pricked out after 6 weeks.
