Momordica cochinchinensis belongs to the cucurbit family. It is also called gac fruit or baby jack fruit in German-speaking countries. The fruits are used as vegetables in Asia.

Momordica cochinchinensis is a large-leaved, woody climber. The egg-shaped fruits reach a length of approx. 20 cm and a weight of up to 1.5 kg. The fruit has extremely high levels of beta-carotene, it contains 10 times more carotenoids than carrots and 70 times more lycopene than tomatoes. In Asia, this vitamin bomb is cooked and used as a vegetable or in curries. The unripe fruits that are around 10-12 days old are harvested.

    These seeds need light to germinate! It is important to collect these seeds only on the surface, they cannot be covered with substrate! Sprinkle only on the floor surface, keep it moist and in a warm and very bright place.

    These seeds have a very robust and resistant shell, which should first be carefully opened a little with a file.
