Höhere Temperaturen (ab ca. 20° C) fördern die Keimung. Ein Folientunnel über dem Saatbeet begünstigt in der Regel die Keimung. Der Keimling der Birke besitzt zwei Keimblätter, da alle Laubbäume zu den zweikeimblättrigen Pflanzen zählen.
