In addition to pine and spruce, the fir is probably the most widespread conifer from the pine family (Pinaceae). On the one hand, the conifer is notable for its particularly densely leafy, evergreen needle shoots. On the other hand, the pine cones are also extraordinary, as they can reach a proud length of up to 30 cm, depending on the species, and are therefore significantly larger than the cones of most other conifers. In total, fir trees can be up to 70 m high, 3 m wide and a proud 600 years old. Sufficient space at the location must therefore be planned urgently so that Abies can still develop undisturbed after several years of standing. We particularly like to plant the European silver fir (Abies alba) and Nordmann fir (Abies nordmanniana) species.
