Sequoias are very special: Fantastically fast growth up to 2 meters per season, with around 70 million years of development among the world's oldest shrubs, and so rare that there are only three species left in the world. Because the sequoias also hold the records "highest tree" and (almost) "thickest tree".
Today, redwood trees are no longer native to Europe and can only be found in parks where they have been specially planted. Before the last ice age, however, the giants were also common in Europe.
