The Noni tree (Morinda citrifolia), more often simply called Noni, is an evergreen shrub or small tree from the Rubiaceae family. The Noni reaches a height of 3 to 6 m. It is native to areas between Southeast Asia (Indonesia) and Australia. Commonly used in naturopathy by the people of the Pacific Islands, where the noni fruit is highly valued.
The noni tree is known not only for its medicinal properties, but also for its high tolerance to environmental conditions. It can grow in poor soil, both acidic and alkaline. It also grows on rocky, wet and very dry terrain. The noni tree tolerates positions out in the wind and temporarily wet areas, is tolerant of soil salinization.

If we want to grow noni from seeds, the main problem is the long time it takes to germinate. If the seeds are not properly prepared before sowing, germination can take 6 to 12 months, or even longer. However, there are ways to speed up this process.
Then the scarification is carried out so that the germination time is reduced. The seed coat is incised or pierced for this purpose. This way, moisture and air can reach the germ in the seed faster.
