Sacha Inchi is a perennial plant from the rainforests of South America, which contains a very large proportion of unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids and is used by the indigenous people of South America as food. Due to the caring properties of the oils of this plant, it is experiencing a continuously growing importance in natural cosmetics.
 
Traditionally, the Sacha Inchi plant (Plukenetia volubilis) or Inka Inchi, cultivated in the Amazon for over 3000 years. Sacha Inchi was worshiped by the Incas as a sacred plant.
 
Sacha Inchi is a climbing plant whose tendrils can grow up to three meters long. Nine months after sowing, the first ripe fruits can be picked. The harvested seeds are then dried in the sun and carefully pressed into oil, ground or roasted.

    Strong-growing, deciduous, herbaceous ranker with alternate arranged, long-stalked, up to 12 cm long and 10 cm wide, oval to heart-shaped, shiny glossy green above, sawn on the edge leaves with prominent veins. The small flowers appear in the leaf axils, male, white flowers in upright spikes, 2 violet-colored, female flowers at the base of the inflorescence, followed by four-edged, green, blackish-brown in maturity, divided into 5-7 star-shaped segments.
