The larch is one of the few conifers that drop their needles in winter. In the spring, the young, light green needles eat, they taste tart and sour and remind something of lemon. In autumn the needles turn yellow before they fall off.
The larch prefers to grow in open spaces, ie where avalanches or landslides have made room and it can be up to 800 years old. It is very resistant and tolerates high temperature differences. Larch wood is preferably used for bow making because of its flexibility.
In ancient times, the larch was considered a sacred tree whose protective power against evil works. Medically, larch balsam has an antiseptic effect and is therefore used against abscesses or boils.

The cultivation is possible all year round. To increase the germination of the seeds, they should first spend a week in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator for stratification. Then sprinkle them on moist growing substrate or good bonsai soil and cover them only lightly with the substrate. Cover the culture container with cling film that will provide holes. So the earth is protected from dehydration. Every two to three days you should remove the foil for two hours. This prevents mold growth on the growing substrate. Place the culture container in a light and warm place with 20 to 25 ° Celsius and keep the cultivation soil moist, but not wet. The first seedlings usually appear after three to eight weeks.
